I didn’t want to heat up the house by cooking, but I worked up a sweat making the spice paste with my mortar & pestle!

Delicious fresh opah smothered in a marinade of candlenut, chilies, scallion, tomatoes, ginger and a little oil.

The huge massive kale explosion underneath the fish is a salad! 😉 I macerated red onion in red vinegar, strained, added lemon juice, black pepper, arugula and salted sunflower seeds.

The fish was grilled in aluminum, then charred for a few minutes when cooked through.

Here is the original recipe. It is for a whole 1lb fish. My filet was about 8.5lb. 😉 Happy grilling!
