Sleepy female “swell shark”. Nocturnal and docile during the day.

This is a baby.

Even nature makes lovely accessories!
A shark’s egg case (or markaid’s purse) with the dark area showing a growing shark.

If you’re not the “beach boardwalk” type, visit The Long Marine Lab U.C. Santa Cruz’s working marine lab! It’s a great day trip and there are trails through the open meadow toward the cliffs as well as toward Natural Bridges State Park. A bit of a trek for little ones, but a perfect place to get to know some amazing sea animals.

Can you spot the pipe fish?

Seriously, I won’t eat you! You look vicious.

I’d name this crab a “survivalist”. Decorator seems kinda froofy! Especially when they use fuzzy balls with this horrid color combo. Left crab| Right Crab blending in with the environment.
